I'm so glad I'm not the only one - I've always been good at explaining what I want to achieve and horrible at understanding how a director plans to make that happen.
Love this story Debra. Especially the moment where the ever-stylish wardrobe stylist compliments your outfit. I've been there, and I know the unreasonable validation.
Bought clothes from Club Monaco in a trip to Miami. They never reached the UK, though Banana Republic did, but sadly no longer. I loved their t shirts and still have a few from 14 years ago!

What a lovely piece--I feel that way on shoots, too. Edward Enningful sounds like a cool (and nice) guy.

I love CM's t-shirts too (for men) and have bought a few for my husband. I still have the dress I wrote about, and it's at least 10 years old.
Love it! So much joy, and longing, and awkwardness, and somehow fitting in. A wonderful read.
Thank you so much. I'm behind on your stories - I've been behind on everything lately! I'll look out for your next one.
Any chance the “Peter” who was directing was Peter Smiley? If so, I have stories.
No, but I'd love to hear your stories anyway.
Great story, Deb. Loved it.
Thank you!
